Terms of Service

1. Who these terms are with

By creating an account, buying a Monocz, or using one, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the product.

2. What Monocz is

Monocz is a pocket monocular with two NFC tags, one on each face. Tapping a face with a phone opens a web page. What that page shows is set by whoever owns or is responsible for the device.

The monocular works as an optical device whether or not you use any of the software.

3. Your account

You sign in by clicking a link we email you. There is no password. Anyone with access to your email can sign in as you, so keep it secure.

You are responsible for what happens under your account.

4. Registering a device

The first time an unregistered device is tapped, we ask the person tapping to register it and to agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. After that, the device resolves directly and anyone may tap it without registering.

5. Safe use

A monocular narrows your field of view and draws your attention away from what is around you. When you use it you agree to:

• not use it while walking, on stairs, or moving through a crowd;
• not use it where you could be bumped or jostled, including in standing crowds;
• hold it in the manner shown in our instructions, which is designed to reduce the risk of injury if you are knocked;
• keep it away from young children, and supervise any minor who uses it;
• never look at the sun or any bright light source through it.

You use the product at your own risk and you are responsible for using it safely and for supervising anyone you lend it to.

6. Designs and images

What you upload. You keep ownership of anything you upload. You give us permission to store it, process it, and print it on the product you ordered. You confirm that you have the right to use it, and that you have permission from anyone who appears in it.

What we generate. Images our system generates from your input are yours to use. We may keep a copy in order to reprint your device under warranty.

Sharing is yours to choose. Nothing you create is published by us. If you share an image, you do so by pressing a share button for a specific destination, and you are responsible for what you share and for having permission from anyone pictured.

What you may not do. Do not upload or generate anything unlawful, hateful, sexual, or that infringes someone else's rights, and do not use another party's trademarks or a person's likeness without permission. We may refuse to print, remove content, or close an account for breach of this section.

7. Orders, payment and delivery

Payment is processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout.

8. Warranty

Every Monocz comes with a 30-day warranty covering manufacturing defects.

An optional protection plan extends coverage to one year and adds accidental damage.

How claims work:

• We replace rather than repair. We send a replacement without asking you to return the original first.
• You pay return shipping where a return is required.
• A protection plan covers one replacement. Once used, it is finished.
• Accidental damage claims require a short video of the damage and are reviewed by a person.

9. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to interfere with the service, access another person's account or device, reverse-engineer the tags, or use the product to harass, deceive or endanger anyone.

10. Ending

You can close your account at any time by emailing tony@monocz.com. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.

Closing your account does not automatically end warranty coverage on a device you own, and does not remove records we are entitled to keep — see the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We will post changes here with the date. Where a change is significant we will ask you to agree to the new version rather than relying on your having seen it.
