Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Monocz is a dual-NFC pocket monocular and the software that supports it.

2. What we collect
When you create an account
- Your email address, used to sign you in by emailed link. We do not ask you to create a password.
- A record of the terms you agreed to, including which document, which version of it, and when.
- An age bracket that you declare yourself. We do not currently verify it.
When you use a Monocz device
- The device's serial number and the codes on each of its two faces.
- A record of each tap: when it happened, which face was tapped, and the device's status at that moment.
- Basic technical information sent by your browser: a hashed form of your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and a session identifier.
When you create a design or an image
- Any photograph or image you upload.
- The images our system generates from it, in preview and print resolutions.
- A record of each generation attempt and its outcome.
When you buy something
- Order details and delivery address.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.
3. What we do not do
These statements describe the system as built and were verified by code audit on 2026-08-09.
- We do not perform facial recognition. Our image pipeline creates no face template, no facial-geometry scan, no landmark set and no biometric identifier. Images are cropped by aspect ratio only — the system does not detect or locate faces.
- We do not publish your images. An image you generate stays yours. It is not posted anywhere unless you press a share button for a specific destination. You can generate an image, save it, and nothing further happens.
- We do not sell personal information.
4. Why we collect it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To operate the device: to resolve a tap to the destination its owner chose.
- To create and print the designs you ask for.
- To fulfil and support orders, including warranty claims.
- To keep a record of what you agreed to, so that both of us can rely on it.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
5. Who we share it with
We use the following service providers. Each processes data on our instructions.

Our Google account is on a paid tier, which means content we submit is not used to train their models.
6. Where your information goes
We are based in Canada. Our service providers process data in the United States. Our email provider's region is fixed and cannot be changed.
7. How long we keep it
Today we keep uploaded and generated images until you ask us to delete them. We are introducing fixed retention periods; until then, you can request deletion at any time by emailing us.
Two principles are already settled and will shape the final periods:
- We keep a design for at least as long as its warranty coverage lasts, because replacing a custom unit means reprinting your design.
- We keep a record that you consented, and to what, for as long as it may be needed to establish or defend a legal claim — even after other information about you is deleted.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it;
- withdraw a consent you gave.
Email tony@monocz.com. We will confirm your identity before acting.
Deleting your account will remove your images and personal details. We may keep a record that you consented to something and when, with your identifying details removed, because that record is our evidence of the agreement being deleted.
9. Children
Monocz is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes
We will post changes here, with the date. Where a change is significant, we will ask you to agree to the new version rather than relying on your having seen it.
